What it means
Where you stand under the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme — your total qualifying service, which MACP stage (if any) you've already earned, and when the next one is due.
How it’s calculated
MACP grants a financial upgradation at 10, 20 and 30 years of continuous regular service, but only for a stage you haven't already effectively received through a regular promotion. Each regular promotion you've had is treated as pre-empting the next MACP stage in sequence.

Formula
Completed Years of Service = whole years between Date of Joining and Current Date
Promotions Covered = min(Number of Promotions Already Received, 3)
Stage from Service = min(floor(Completed Years ÷ 10), 3)
MACP Stage Earned = Stage from Service, if Stage from Service > Promotions Covered, else none
Next MACP Stage = max(MACP Stage Earned, Promotions Covered) + 1, if ≤ 3, else Not Applicable

- This is a simplified, illustrative estimate only — always verify with your unit's HR/records office, Group Headquarters, or PCDA(O)/PCDA before relying on it.
- Models only the generic MACP Scheme: financial upgradation at 10, 20 and 30 years of continuous regular service, per DoPT OM No. 35034/3/2008-Estt.(D) dated 19 May 2009. No cadre-specific, department-specific or service-specific (Army/Navy/Air Force/Civilian) interpretation is attempted.
- "Number of Promotions Already Received" is treated as consuming MACP stages 1, 2 and 3 in that order — each regular promotion is assumed to pre-empt the next MACP financial upgradation. This calculator only uses a promotion count, not promotion dates, so the exact timing interplay between a specific promotion and a specific MACP milestone is not modeled.
- "3+" promotions is treated identically to exactly 3, since only 3 MACP stages exist under the scheme.
- Assumes qualifying service is continuous and fully reckonable — does not verify or exclude breaks in service, extraordinary leave, or unauthorized absence that may not count towards MACP qualifying service.
- Does not model bunching provisions or the various clarificatory Office Memoranda issued after the original 2009 scheme.
