What it means
Your estimated monthly and annual Hostel Subsidy — a fixed reimbursement per eligible child whose education requires residing in a hostel away from your duty station.
How it’s calculated
Hostel Subsidy is a fixed monthly rate per child, multiplied by the number of eligible children (up to 2). The annual figure is simply 12 times the monthly amount.

- This is a simplified, illustrative estimate only — always verify with your pay and accounts office.
- Models the 7th CPC Hostel Subsidy scheme (the same DoPT OM No. A-27012/02/2017-Estt.(AL) dated 17 July 2018 that governs CEA): a fixed monthly amount per child, reimbursable for up to 2 children whose education requires hostel residence.
- Uses ₹8,437.50/month/child — the base rate of ₹6,750 revised upward by the 25% DA-linked escalation that same OM provides for (applied once DA crosses 50%). Version 1 has no DA% or date input, so it always shows this current post-DA-50% rate and cannot reconstruct the earlier, lower tier.
- Does not model the enhanced rate or removal of the 2-child cap for children with disabilities.
- Does not model the actual reimbursement processing cycle (typically annual/half-yearly, not monthly) — the annual figure shown is a simple ×12 of the monthly rate, not a claim schedule.
- CEA and Hostel Subsidy cannot both be claimed for the same child — this calculator does not enforce that across the two calculators.
